Thai Basil Lime Gimlet

We have a distillery in Tamworth, NH that worked with the chef owner Emshika, of Chang Thai Cafe, to make a gin flavored with Thai basil and chili. Emshika’s Garden, as it is called, pairs perfectly with this drink, but gin such as Barr Hill (VT) , Hendricks, or Tanqueray will work well too. The chili is not hot, but adds depth to the drink.

  • 2 oz Emshika’s Garden Thai Chili Gin
  • 1 bunch of Thai basil, leaves separated from stems
  • 1 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ice

In a shaker, add 1/2 of the Thai basil leaves and muddle lightly. Add gin, simple syrup, lime juice. Add ice and shake for 15 seconds, then strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with 1-2 Thai basil leaves.
